Micro-credential Summary:

This micro-credential is tailored specifically for you, as a First Nations student, to develop the knowledge, skills, and capabilities essential for a career as a theatre practitioner in the creative industries. In this micro-credential, you will learn about communication and connection through theatre workshops. You’ll be equipped with a variety of warm-up activities, theatre games, practical exercises for collaborative storytelling that are essential for leading a group effectively. This course will cover the basics of setting up a workshop environment, engaging participants with interactive activities, and using theatre as a tool for education and community building. By the end of this session, you will have the confidence and knowledge to communicate and create connections through theatre workshops that inspire creativity and foster a love for the performing arts.

Upon completion, you will receive a non-creditable micro-credential and a digital badge, which you can proudly display on your social networks and professional portfolio, showcasing your commitment to excellence in writing stories for theatre.

Learning Outcomes: 

  1. Identify basic communication and connection techniques used in a theatre workshop 
  2. Apply fundamental storytelling and performance techniques to engage a group in the learning process 
  3. Explore workshop structure to identify how to plan and communicate effectively through a theatre workshop.

Duration:  2 hours

Intakes:  This micro-credential is intended for select First Nations participants as advised by JUTE Theatre Company. 

Students will submit an EOI to JUTE Theatre Company to register their interest in participating in the course. JUTE theatre company will then advise CQU of student names for a bulk enrolment.
