This micro-credential is designed to help you, as a First Nations student, become a theatre practitioner and technical personnel. You'll gain the knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed for a career in the creative industries. The Fundamental Theatre Sound Micro-credential offers you a foundational understanding of sound design and operations in the theatre industry. You’ll learn the basics of audio technology, how to implement sound cues, and the role sound plays in storytelling—all essential skills for enhancing stage productions. This program focuses on developing your ability to contribute effectively to theatre productions.
Upon completion, you will receive a non-creditable micro-credential and a digital badge, which you can proudly display on your social networks and professional portfolio, showcasing your commitment to excellence in writing stories for theatre.

Learning Outcomes:
- Identify and understand the key components of theatre sound systems, including microphones, speakers, and mixing consoles, and their roles in a live production
- Apply basic sound design principles to create appropriate audio environments that support and enhance the narrative of theatrical performances
- Explore the impact of sound on audience
engagement and the overall theatrical experience, utilising sound to
convey mood, setting, and character dynamics.

Intakes: This micro credential is intended for select First Nations participants as advised by JUTE Theatre Company.
Students will submit an EOI to JUTE Theatre Company to register their interest in participating in the course. JUTE theatre company will then advise CQU of student names for a bulk enrolment.
