Micro-credential Summary:

The Effective Student Communications micro-credential introduces fundamental communications and design principles for the likes of email and SMS communications, through the lens of customer (student) communications, whilst also providing the tools and knowledge to uphold the values and guidelines of the CQUniversity Australia brand.

The micro-credential is intended for employees who routinely send communications to students of CQUniversity and aims to provide the tools and knowledge to design and write effective communications as well as evaluate performance and implement learnings for continuous improvement. 

The micro-credential will include the following high-level topics:

  • Understanding your audience
  • Complying with the Student Communications Policy and Procedure
  • Applying communication and design principles
  • Adhering to writing style and brand guidelines
  • Effective proofreading
  • Understanding student data and target criteria
  • Understanding scheduling
  • Delivering communications using the correct system
  • Sharing with frontline teams
  • Evaluating performance
  • Implementing learnings.

This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:  

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of different student profiles, preferences, and behaviors
  2. Demonstrate application of communication and design principles, and brand guidelines
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate systems, handling student data, and identifying target criteria
  4. Demonstrate application of various communication styles in different contexts
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate cross-team collaboration in the communications landscape.

Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations:

Undertaking this micro-credential enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a non-creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.
