Micro-credential Summary:

Physics is the science of energy and matter and how they relate to each other. This online micro-credential will introduce you to physics as a science of measurement, as being able to accurately measure and record scientific results is fundamental in physics.

Students who successfully complete the CQUniversity School of Access Education's Physics Essentials set of 6 micro-credentials, may receive a unit exemption from the equivalent CL03 Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) unit with CQUniversity.

To be eligible for this exemption, students must have completed:

  1. PDC116776 Maths in Physics Applications
  2. PDC116777 Mechanics - Motion, Forces and Energy
  3. PDC116778 Matter, Nuclear and Thermodynamics
  4. PDC116779 Electricity and Magnetism
  5. PDC116780 Physics Essentials - Elective Module
  6. PDC116781 Assessment Module - Physics Essentials

This online micro-credential provides a digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recall mathematical techniques and rules of algebra, exponents, trigonometry and vectors
  2. Express numbers in scientific notation and perform calculations using scientific notation
  3. Determine numerical approximations, degrees of accuracy and orders of magnitude
  4. Recall the fundamental and derived SI units including common metric prefixes
  5. Perform calculations with fundamental physical constants and units
  6. Construct graphs and analyse information given in graphical form.
