Micro-credential Summary:

Chemistry is the science of the properties and behaviour of matter. This online micro-credential will introduce you to organic chemistry.

Students who successfully complete the CQUniversity School of Access Education's Chemistry Essentials set of 6 micro-credentials, may receive a unit exemption from the equivalent CL03 Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) unit with CQUniversity.

To be eligible for this exemption, students must have completed:

  1. PDC116782 Elements, Molecules and Compounds
  2. PDC116783 Chemical Reactions
  3. PDC116784 Stoichiometry
  4. PDC116785 Acids and Bases
  5. PDC116786 Organic Chemistry
  6. PDC116788 Assessment Module - Chemistry Essentials

This online micro-credential provides a digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Our micro-credentials are aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Learning Outcomes:  

  1. Identify simple hydrocarbons
  2. Identify different functional groups.

Assessment: 

  • Online Quiz(zes)

Fee:  $55

Duration:  11 hours

Intakes:  Enrolments are taken throughout the year on a continuous basis.

Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations:

Students who successfully complete the set of 6 micro-credentials* developed from the unit CHEM40079, Introductory Chemistry, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for exemption, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.
