Micro-credential Summary:

Chemistry is the branch of science that studies the properties and behaviour of matter. This online micro-credential will introduce you to matter, atoms and the periodic table, molecules and ions and ionic and covalent compounds. 

Students who successfully complete the CQUniversity School of Access Education's Chemistry Essentials set of 6 micro-credentials, may receive a unit exemption from the equivalent CL03 Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) unit with CQUniversity.

To be eligible for this exemption, students must have completed:

This online micro-credential provides a digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:  

1. Differentiate diverse types of matter
2. Use Gas Laws to calculate unknown quantities
3. Define an atom and how its structure influences its properties
4. Use the Periodic Table to predict the properties of elements
5. Identify the differences between molecules and ions
6. Compare and contrast the properties of ionic and covalent compounds.

 Undertaking this micro-credential enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a Digital Badge and a Certificate of Completion.
