Course Summary:

Mathematics is used to solve many types of problems. This online micro-credential will introduce you to 2D vectors and 3D vectors.

Students who successfully complete the set of 7 micro-credentials* developed from the unit MATH40252, Technical Mathematics for University, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.

This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Distinguish between scalar and vector quantities
  2. Resolve vectors into their vertical and horizontal components and determine the resultant through vector addition
  3. Perform scalar multiplication on vectors
  4. Use vector methods to solve application problems
  5. Use the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines to solve problems.

Assessment: One Exam (Downloaded document with 24 hours to complete and submit).
