Micro-credential Summary:

Mathematics is used to solve many types of problems. This online micro-credential will introduce you to the mathematics of ratio, proportion and variation to solve application problems.

Students who successfully complete the set of 9 micro-credentials* developed from the unit MATH40228, Intermediate Mathematics for University, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.

This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:

  1.     Simplify and compare ratios and rates
  2.     Construct relationships involving the constant of proportionality, as a part of direct, inverse, joint and combined variation
  3.     Solve problems involving proportional relationships.

    Assessment: One Exam (Downloaded document with 24 hours to complete and submit).

    Duration: 15 hours

    Intakes: Enrolments are taken throughout the year on a continuous basis.

    Undertaking this micro-credential provides students with information, skills and strategies to help them succeed in higher education. These skills are transferable to contexts beyond study. Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.
