Mathematics is used to solve many types of problems. This online micro-credential will introduce you to solving systems of linear equations and simultaneous equations. You will also learn how to solve linear inequalities and absolute value equations.

Students who successfully complete the set of 9 micro-credentials* developed from the unit MATH40228, Intermediate Mathematics for University, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.

This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:

  1.     Check if an ordered pair is a solution to a system of linear equations
  2.     Solve systems of linear equations using the substitution method, elimination method and graphical method
  3.     Develop and solve a system of linear equations for application problems
  4.     Solve linear inequalities and compound inequalities
  5.     Graph linear inequalities
  6.     Solve absolute value equations and inequalities.

    Assessment: One Exam (Downloaded document with 24 hours to complete and submit).
