Micro-credential Summary:

In this micro-credential, offered as a workshop, participants will gain an understanding of how the media works, the news cycles, and how to develop meaningful content for both traditional and social media. Throughout both the face to face one-day workshop, and access to online support materials, participants will gain confidence in being interviewed by the media and how to maximise positive publicity without having to pay for it. 

This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:  

  1. Reflect on how the current Australian media landscape works
  2. Outline the role of the media spokesperson, and the impact of commentary in the media which positions both the individual and CQUniversity in a powerful way
  3. Identify the traits of an effective spokesperson to ensure the media will return for commentary on their area of expertise
  4. Learn how to generate overall greater media coverage for CQUniversity
  5. Utilise a media toolkit for use in their future media engagements.

Assessment:  Online Quiz

Fee:  $175

This cost covers training materials, facilitator time and refreshments during the day.

Participants must apply for funding approval through their line manager prior to registering for this micro-credential. Unfortunately self-funding is not an available option.

Duration:  10 hours

Intakes:  This micro-credential is available for CQUniversity staff only. To submit your Expression of Interest to enrol, please email the Corporate Communications Team to discuss options. The team will organise payment directly to the university and on successful payment you will be enrolled to the online micro-credential component.

Additional workshops can be hosted by request. A minimum of 10 participants (maximum 15) is required for a workshop to proceed.

Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations:

Undertaking this micro-credential enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a non-creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.
