Micro-credential Summary:

Academic communication skills are essential for students. This online micro-credential will introduce you to the importance of academic integrity and provide you with an overview of the strategies used to avoid plagiarism.

Students who successfully complete the CQUniversity School of Access Education's Fundamental Essay Writing set of 6 micro-credentials, may receive a unit exemption from the equivalent CL03 Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) unit with CQUniversity.

To be eligible for this exemption, students must have completed:

1. Starting an Academic Essay

2. Structuring an Academic Essay

3. Avoiding Plagiarism

4. Referencing and Citing

5. Using Academic Language and Style

6. Fundamentals of Essay Writing: Assessment Module.

This online micro-credential provides a creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:  

    1. Identify the features of academic integrity

    2. Recognise instances of plagiarism

    3. Identify paraphrasing, summarising, and quoting strategies used to ensure academic integrity

    4. Recognise the referencing principles used to acknowledge sources of information.

Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations:

Undertaking this micro-credential enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a non-creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.
