Course Summary:
This online resource provides has been co-designed by the NSW Department of Education and CQUniversity Australia for the NSW Stage 4 Technology Mandatory Syllabus. It incorporates content from the Agriculture and Food Technologies and the Digital Technologies contexts. The course investigates the use of GPS data to improve management of animal welfare.
The GPS Cows learning module will consist of a unit of work spanning 10 weeks (25 hours) where students will collect their own GPS data and analyse existing livestock tracking data sets. The material is strongly aligned with two contexts (Agriculture and Food Technologies and Digital Technologies) in the Stage 4 Technology Mandatory curriculum.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the process of getting started with ArcGIS by creating groups
- Understand the process of importing data layers in ArcGIS
- Understand basic data analysis - Paddock utilisation
- Understand basic data analysis - Creating a water point, buffer and water visitation
- Understand basic data analysis - Water visitation per day
- Understand how to use excel to create pivot tables
- Understand how to use excel to graph data.
