Course Summary:

Mathematics is used to solve many types of problems. This micro-credential will provide you with knowledge of various mathematical topics, including algebraic techniques; trigonometric functions, ratios and graphs; plane and analytical geometry; and introductory vectors and introductory calculus. This micro-credential will provide opportunities for critical self-reflection on formative assessment to improve mathematical comprehension and communication of mathematical solutions.

Students who successfully complete the set of 7 micro-credentials* developed from the unit MATH40252 Technical Mathematics for University, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.

The completion of Applied Mathematics: Concepts and Skills will prepare you for first-year tertiary mathematics in applied science and engineering.

  3. Communicate mathematical solutions logically and clearly

Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations: Undertaking this micro-credential enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a non-creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.
