Course Summary:

This online micro-credential examines approaches to disability, the concepts of social justice and inclusion, and the concept of Universal Design in Learning (UDL). It is designed to help learners unpack assumptions about disability and suggest ways to make the classroom a more just and inclusive environment. 

This is a non-creditable micro-credential that is awarded a digital badge and Certificate of Completion which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify differences between social and medical models of disability
  2. Outline the concepts of social justice and inclusion
  3. Reflect on different scenarios within the teaching and learning context and consider how they might be discriminatory
  4. Describe the concept of Universal Design in Learning (UDL) and identify ways to promote an inclusive learning environment.

Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations: Undertaking this micro-credential enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a non-creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.
