Micro-credential Summary:
Academic communication skills are essential for students. This online micro-credential will introduce you to the referencing principles and conventions required for formatting in-text citations and a list of references in academic writing.
Students who successfully complete the CQUniversity School of Access Education's Fundamental Essay Writing set of 6 micro-credentials, may receive a unit exemption from the equivalent CL03 Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) unit with CQUniversity.
To be eligible for this exemption, students must have completed:
1. Starting an Academic Essay
2. Structuring an Academic Essay
3. Avoiding Plagiarism
4. Referencing and Citing
5. Using Academic Language and Style
6. Fundamentals of Essay Writing: Assessment Module.
This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.
Learning Outcomes:
- Recognise strategies for paraphrasing, summarising and quoting the ideas of others
- Apply the conventions to format in-text citations using Harvard referencing style
- Apply the conventions to format a list of references using Harvard referencing style.
